In district Moradabad at Pakbara, sector specific Special Economic Zone for handicraft products is being developed to provide congenial environment and facilities to Art Metal entrepreneurs to boost the productivity of export-oriented units in accordance with the changing demands of international market. Moradabad SEZ holds the distinction of being one of the first 10 notified special Economic Zones in India.
Under phase one, 469 plots of different sizes have been developed on 421.56 acres of land and all of them have been allotted.
Relaxation in stamp duty under Section 35 of the Indian Stamp Act, 1899. According to institutional finance tax and registration department, the remit of stamp duty, however, will be subject to certain conditions. The application needs to be submitted with a valid letter of permission issued by the Development Commissioner, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Exemptions from various state level taxes and levies, such as Turnover Tax, Mandi Tax, Development Tax and Local Bodies Tax etc. are available as permissible under the U.P. SEZ policy.
Infrastructure facilities such as development of green-belt to keep the area pollution free, boundary wall, internal development, security system, which includes a fully functional police station, are already in place.
